Wiley T. Turner
PhD Student: Health Services Research Specializing in Health Economics
Hello!
My name is Wiley Turner, I am a PhD student at the University of Kentucky's College of Public Health. My field of study is health services research with a focus is in health economics. I am interested in the healthcare labor force, competition among health facilities and how policy such as Medicare/Medicaid improve health.
Originally from Breathitt County in Eastern Kentucky I received bachelor degrees in economics and medical laboratory science from Eastern Kentucky University. I have worked in various laboratories before going back to earn my Master's in Applied Statistics and now a part time PhD student. I have worked in the healthcare industry for over 10 years, mainly in laboratories, with hopes of advancing into a more research and analytical career.
Outside of work and academia I like to cook, read fiction (sword and sorcery is my favorite genre), and occasionally play some Dungeons and Dragons(I still know what THAC0 is!). Also my wife and I are fur parents to two mouthy Welsh Corgis.
